Bridgeway is a joke. The counselors are 6 week wonders with more problems than the clients. The nurse is judgmental and not overly bright. They are non caring . I have had a referral in to this place for over a year and they never called. I have dealt with them since the 70's when they were Spoon river and they have never been top of line in mental health. The programs are worthless and a waste of time . I have been told by a few medical Dr.s that Bridgeway was not a place to get good mental health care. If a person needs a basket weaving class or a couple of days of so called therapy it may work but for chronic mental illness they are pathetic . They have had staff that has been sexually involved with the clients. That shows the mentality of the place. Incompetent and really need investigated by an unbiased third party.
I was in Bridgeway for substance abuse. I can sence a compassion from every counselor I talked to... It's hard to judge why necessarily there are such bad reviews of them. I am guessing people either wernt told what they want to here or found out that it's more work then they were up for, it's a shame. From my expierence they were very helpful and direct.
I would drive to Chicago to see a psychiatrist before I would every go back to this place. They herd you through like cattle for psychiatric appointments. There is no personal attention given. They stay in business because there is a lack of services in the community and they get money from all the consumers of the DD homes.
